Captain: Myself, Rae, a gal in her late 20's who has decided to take a year or two off to travel and explore her country while working at as many different types of jobs as she can find. I've been called 'brave', 'insane', 'stupid', 'amazing', and 'inspiring.' I do not consider myself to be any of those things (except for, perhaps, insane). I am merely a woman terrified of seeing her life pass by and having nothing to show for it. This fear surpasses any other I might have. There is too much to see and do in a lifetime to spend it cooped up somewhere being someone you don't want to be and doing things you'd rather not be doing.

Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? -Mary Oliver
Why 'Miranda'?
You can know all the math in the ‘Verse, but take a boat in the air you don’t love, she’ll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells ya she’s hurtin’ ‘fore she keens. Makes her home.
(Captain Malcolm Reynolds, 'Serenity')
It's this movie that gave my coach her name. Miranda is a planet where its inhabitants died from being meddled with by their government. The name will remind me to rebel against conformity, to be true to myself, and to present a positive example of the nomadic, full-time RVing life, lest there come a day [when] there won't be room for naughty men like us to slip about at all.
Why I'm Doing This
"...we are brainwashed by our economic system until we end up in a tomb beneath a pyramid of time payments, mortgages, preposterous gadgetry, and playthings that divert our attention from the sheer idiocy of the charade. The years thunder by. The dreams of youth grow dim where they lie caked in dust on the shelves of patience. Before we know it, the tomb is sealed.
Where, then, lies the answer? In choice.
Which shall it be: bankruptcy of purse or bankruptcy of life?"
and
"I don't want to come to the end of my life and realize I have lived someone else's version of it."
