At 4PM today, I ran out of propane. Lesson learned? That an empty tank of propane weighs a lot!!!
Thankfully, there is one propane place in this area that has excellent hours for propane service: the Shell station in Osoyoos. They're open 6AM to 10:30PM seven days a week during the winter. Of course, the 40 minute round trip wound up being closer to a full hour since I was driving slooooooowly. But what a relief it was to run out at 4PM instead of the middle of the night!
I had no problem getting the tank hooked up this time around. Thankfully!

Hi Rae...we are following your situation carefully. Sure hope all works out okay...you are very resourceful, so I'm sure that no matter what happens, you will be able to deal with it. It is -30c in Regina today, with a -46 windchill ! And of course we have functions to attend last night and today, so we are HATING it..lol. If you are still thinking of heading to the island, we stayed at The Living Forest Oceanside Campground, just outside of Nanaimo. The weather is much more temperate there in the winter, but they get tons of rain in the winter. They have guests that stay all winter, with very nice facilities. Also, it seemed like there were lots of jobs available in Nanaimo, if you don't mind retail jobs. Maybe next winter, we can both follow Croft to Mexico, and worry about sunburns instead of mere survival !! Hang in there, and take care...Trent & Teresa
Trent & Teresa, I'm glad I'm not in Regina!!! LOL
I'd love to go to the Island, but the cost of getting Miranda and the toad there and back is prohibitive. I'm also concerned about the employment situation. Retail would be fine in terms of work duties, but not pay.
Mexico sounds *really* good right now! :-)
